New Nissan Micra

The fourth generation Micra is as popular as it always was, with an upgraded look and good build quality. Low emissions and a decent tech list make this worth the low asking price.

The new Nissan Micra is a compact city car with plenty of charisma to catch attention as it moves through traffic. A major redesign process completed in 2013 added some contemporary accents to the front and rear of the car, with a new grille, reshaped headlights and bumper, as well as new LED rear lights. The cabin also benefits from having a brand new console and higher quality materials, including glossy plastics and brushed metal door handles that add more elegance to the interior.

There are two petrol engines available with the new Micra, the entry-level 79bhp 1.2-litre and a more powerful 96bhp 1.2-litre DIG-S. A five-speed manual gearbox and a CTV are available, with the former providing better fuel economy and lower emissions. At home on city streets, the car performs well around town and at lower speeds. Easy to park thanks to its more compact size, agility and light steering, the Micra will suit everyday urban driving. The suspension will also maintain a good level of comfort inside the cabin. The Visia trim is well-equipped and offers good value for money. Bluetooth, USB connectivity, electric front windows and air-conditioning (with the DIG-S engine only) come as standard. The middle Acenta model adds air-conditioning for both engines, electric door mirrors and alloy wheels. At the top-of-the-range, Tekna receives sat nav with a 5.8-inch touchscreen, 16-inch alloys and parking sensors, to name a few. Various accessories are also available, including metallic paint.

Fuel economy is very good, especially with the DIG-S engine with a manual gearbox; this combination returns an average of 68.9mpg, with emissions of under 100g/km of CO2, exempting the car from road tax. Standard safety features include multiple airbags, an Electronic Stability Programme, ABS, traction control and ISOFIX child-seat anchoring points.

Perfect for Professionals & Couples Designed for city driving, the new Nissan Micra is perfect for those looking for a compact car that can handle tricky parking manoeuvres. The fuel economy is excellent and also pairs with zero annual road tax.
