Second-Hand Volvo V70

Used Volvo V70
The Volvo V70 is a traditional, solid car with a huge load capacity, though after the Mk1 it became rather less boxy on the outside. Although the car is designed as a load lugger, performance shouldn't disappoint, especially in the more powerful versions. Like many estate cars, the used V70 is substantial, reliable, comfortable and safe. But unlike other similar cars, this one is fun to drive too!

What You Get
Spacious, durable and well built, the V70 makes a sensible used buy. Mk3 models are more stylish if a little less involving to drive, however, any second-hand V70 will make a practical family estate that's comfortable and safe. Go for a diesel if you want the best mix of performance and economy for everyday use. Cabin design is stylish and practical with a 2-position rear seat to boost luggage space. The latest models have a 3-way split to the seat back making it easy to carry long loads and passengers.

How it Drives
For a big estate car, the used Volvo V70 drives better than you might expect it to. There's some body roll when you turn into a corner, but the handling is safe and predictable. Mk3 cars are angled more towards comfort than performance. Models with the AWD system put the power down well and provide confidence on slippery surfaces. The 5-cylinder engines can be noisy at idle but quieten down once you're on the move. T5 models will get to 60mph in just over 7 seconds and go on to 155mph. Turbo diesels are the most practical though combining a decent turn of speed and the ability to get 40+ mpg if you drive gently.
