Second-Hand Volkswagen Scirocco
Used Volkswagen Scirocco
Originally available in the 70s and 80s, the Scirocco boasted all the virtues the Golf is known for. In more recent years, it has been relaunched and given a style of its own! It was back in 2008 when the Scirocco started to get everyone talking. A used VW Scirocco offers a great deal. Not only is it wonderfully stylish, it features stunning curves and packs some real power. Although it’s always been a force to be reckoned with, the more modern models should not be described as anything less that epic. The 2-litre GT version is fun to be behind the wheel of while the R Line adds extra panache to your drive.
What You Get
Unquestionably modern, a used Scirocco is narrower at the front end, widening to pronounced arches at the rear along a sleek, sloping roofline. Despite belonging to the compact class of cars, the Scirocco's lead designer made sure it could comfortably accommodate his own 6' 2" frame, in the front at least. A panoramic sunroof was available as an option and adds a light, airy feel to the interior. All four seats are sports models with cloth or leather upholstery and standard kit included a six-CD autochange stereo, rain and dusk sensors for lights and wipers, multifunction trip computer, air conditioning and 17-inch 'Donington' alloys. The Scirocco scored well on crash tests, with safety equipment comprising ABS, ESP and six airbags.
How it Drives
The drive of a second-hand Volkswagen Scirocco is as smooth as its looks. The engines are all satisfying but the petrol units are far nippier than the diesels, with even the underpowered-sounding 1.4 litre getting from rest to 60mph in 8 seconds. However, the diesel units give a lovely return of torque that makes up for the lower straight-line speed if that's where you need the power. The ACC (Adaptive Chassis Control) system, standard on all models, provides superior handling to the Golf, with normal, sport and comfort modes adjusting the suspension and steering settings according to driving requirements
