Second-Hand Toyota Corolla Verso
Used Toyota Corolla Verso
Produced until 2009, the Toyota Corolla Verso became one of the best-selling compact MPVs in the European market, but it never really got the attention it deserved in the UK. Many people blame the marketing, but the quirky appearance of the vehicle could have something to do with it. The car received a facelift in 2004, with a whole host of revisions to both the interior and exterior styling. Let's face it, it's not the coolest choice around, but it's a sturdy car that'll get you from A to B.
What You Get
The looks of this vehicle divide a lot of people. From the front and rear, the car looks good, but it has a unique appearance from the side. The window line is an odd shape, and while it's not awful, it's not going to win any beauty contests. Once you get over that, the interior layout is fantastic, and the engine is exceptionally good. The rear seats can be flipped down, taken out or moved back, and there's plenty of room for luggage. This isn't a 7-seater, but it's got plenty of space for families. It's also incredibly hard-wearing and reliable.
How it Drives
The sportier 1.8l engine is definitely worth the extra cost, but this is not to discount the smaller 1.6l option. The diesel engine has the greatest fuel economy but could fall foul of future regulations. What the used Toyota Corolla Verso lacks in looks, it makes up for with its smooth and reliable ride. Don't overlook the Verso if you're in the market for a great mini-MPV.
