Second-Hand Renault Espace
Used Renault Espace
A car in a van’s body, the Espace could comfortably seat 6-8 people, using the rear end to house the third row of seats. It was amongst the first people carriers to come around and was launched in 1985. It is very family focused, putting emphasis on space and practicality.
What You Get
An initial USP of used Renault Espaces is their flexible seating system, which has remained standout through all the generations. Available with the capacity for five or seven people, each seat is individual and can be positioned independently of its brothers, including rear facing. Functionality includes sliding, reclining, folding flat to form a table or a bed or being completely removed. With five seats fitted, you get a large amount of space for luggage, which is obviously much reduced in the seven-seat configuration. Safety features were always satisfactory but were ramped up for the third generation, with curtain airbags accommodating all three rows of seating as well as the standard front and side units. Successive editions of the second-hand Renault Espace became increasingly sophisticated and upmarket, with the latest edition boasting side supporting sports upholstery and a built-in Carminat TomTom Live navigation system. DRLs, 17-inch alloys and Novadis rims lent a chic air to the outside.
How it Drives
Feeling more like a car than a van, the used Renault Espace is a better drive than you’d expect. The diesels are excitingly torquey, but the pleasure of this car comes from its practicality. You can expect a good driving experience for a car in this class. Browse the collection of used Renault Espaces for sale at RAC Cars, to see what you can find.
