Second-Hand Daihatsu Fourtrak

Used Daihatsu Fourtrak
Originally introduced in 1984, the Daihatsu Fourtrak was among the toughest but also the most basic 4x4 vehicles that money could buy. Various refinements introduced during the lifespan of the vehicle led to dramatically improved ride handling while ensuring the Fourtrak remained as rugged as ever. So, if you’re looking for a used Daihatsu Fourtrak for sale, the range at RAC Cars offers a collection of solid, dependable and affordable 4x4s.

What You Get
Power steering and the ability to select either two- or four-wheel drive models are standard on all models. Engine variants originally included a 2 litre petrol, 2.2 litre petrol and a 2.8 litre turbo diesel, but by the end of the model’s life, only the 2.8 diesel was available. If you’re looking for a vehicle capable of towing heavy loads, be sure to choose the diesel as this has an impressive towing capacity of 3,500kg. Usability has always been a greater priority for the Daihatsu Fourtrak than luxury, but should you want a little more in the way of comfort, the SE model comes with electric windows and a four-speaker stereo system while the top of the range TDX has power headlamp washers and electric mirrors.

How it Drives
The Daihatsu Fourtrak is a hugely capable off-road vehicle with good ground clearance and enough power in the low revs to take on anything the countryside can throw at it. The Fourtrak is more at home in these conditions and while it is perfectly suitable for regular driving it undoubtedly lacks the refinement of some of the more upmarket 4x4s that you can buy, even when you take into account the changes made to later models. However, when it comes to practicality and price, the Fourtrak is hard to beat.
