Second-Hand Daihatsu Copen

Used Daihatsu Copen
The Daihatsu Copen is a coupe when the roof is up, and open when the roof is down. Hence the name, Copen. The motoring industry is always looking for a new model to fill a niche and fun little drop tops are a very profitable niche indeed. These cars need not be sports cars in the truest sense, but they should look the part and give the driver an enjoyable experience. Explore the wide range of options of used Daihatsu Copens for sale at RAC Cars.

What You Get
What you get with a used Daihatsu Copen is a very capable little car that is an absolute hoot to drive around town. That tiny 660cc engine snarls like a terrier and always makes the car feel like you’re doing something exciting. The little Copen is perfectly at home on an urban runabout. One of the major advantages the Copen has over its rivals is the hard-top roof. This lightweight aluminium unit folds away at the touch of a button in around 25 seconds. Too many city soft-top owners have emerged in the morning to find their cloth roof vandalised and the metal roof on the Daihatsu adds very welcome security for urban drivers. Boot space is limited due to the foldaway roof, but the chassis is tight, the driving is fun, and the cockpit is agreeably sporty. The car’s tiny footprint makes it easy to park in the tightest of spots and the fact that Daihatsu only imported around 1000 of these cars to the UK each year also gives you an element of exclusivity.

How it Drives
Although it is a tiny car, the Daihatsu Copen only has two seats, so there is plenty of room for two adults and the cabin feels spacious. That little 660cc engine fizzes and burbles whatever the revs, adding a dimension of fun to the driving experience even though performance is modest. The Copen will get you to 60mph in a shade under 13 seconds and reach over 100mph if you are particularly determined. It is refined enough for motorway driving and although you are not going to break any records getting to your destination, you will certainly have fun on the way.
