Second-Hand Citroen Berlingo First

Used Citroen Berlingo First
The original Citroen Berlingo First was one of the first MPVs based on a commercial van to hit the market. It provided a cheap and cheerful family car to families who didn't mind being in a van. The second-generation Berlingo First was released in 2008 and was even larger than its roomy predecessor. The new range consisted of 1.6-litre diesel and petrol engines with several trim levels starting with the VT, through VTR and up to the XTR. In 2009, Citroen added 7-seat versions to the range which appealed to larger families and highlighted just how much space the new First had to offer.

What You Get
The second-generation Citroen Berlingo First is much less van-like than the first generation and feels more like a proper car. It still has practicality as its priority and boasts a boot space of 675 litres with all passengers on board and the parcel shelf fitted. One of the key features of the used Berlingo First is its adaptability. It comes fitted with a three-person rear seat as standard, sections of which can be folded or removed completely. To increase options even further, buyers could choose to go for three single, removable seats. The specially designed shape of the rear middle seat creates a table when folded forward. The seven-seat version consists of three single removable seats in the second row and the third row comprising two foldable and removable seats.

How it Drives
The second-generation Citroen Berlingo First handles much more like a proper car than the first version. Visibility is very good and the suspension is much improved. Top speed is around 110mph and this version is considerably more efficient than its predecessor. ABS is standard on all models. The First isn't the most fashionable or best-looking car in the world, but nor does it claim to be. If you are looking for a practical and affordable family car, you could do a lot worse than pick up a used First.
