Budget flights and the Channel Tunnel mean European motoring fun is within easy access. Take a weekend off this summer and enjoy some foreign automotive excitement.

Le Mans 24 Hours

The iconic Le Mans endurance event is a must see for true racing fans. The festival atmosphere comes packed with the most advanced racers in the world - it's a great opportunity for a road trip or stag do. Don't forget to pack some ear protectors - the noise is unforgettable! This year's race takes place on 13-14 June at the world famous Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France, and tickets cost from €75.

Tour de Bretagne

This is a leisurely event, with no racing or loud noise. It's a tour of northern France's beautiful Brittany region, open to vintage, classic and replica cars from pre-1994. The route takes in 130 miles of picturesque Breton scenery, starting from the port of Roscoff, and making plenty of time to stop and explore the area. It takes place on the weekend of 19-20 June.

Belgian GP

There are plenty of place to watch F1 but Belgium's Spa Francorchamps is always one of the season's most exciting races. The Formula One circus takes place on 21-23 August and entry costs from €135- €600. By the time you add travel expenses, it's not a budget break but motor racing fans will never forget it.

VLN Endurance Championship

There are ten one day race events taking place between March-October as part of the VLN Endurance Championship at Germany's Nurburgring. Different motorsport clubs host each day and competitors include factory teams and amateurs. Spectators can watch for free from the Nordschleife perimeter or buy €15 tickets for a grandstand view.

Paul Ricard Circuit

The Paul Ricard High Tech Test Track near Marseille in the South of France has played host to a number of motorsport events, including the FIA GT, MotoGP and Six Hours of Catellet. Owner Bernie Ecclestone has plans to bring the French Grand Prix back to Paul Ricard but, in the meantime, you can enjoy some great driving experiences and track days plus go-karting, as part of your summer break.

Spa Six Hours

The Spa Francorchamps circuit hosts a twenty race event on 18-20 September, where over 650 historic racers congregate in the forest of Ardennes. These post war classics will be battling it out in a number of categories, while there are plenty of other activities and a shopping street when you need a break from all the excitement.
