Vauxhall Unveil Next-gen Engines

By raccars Published

Vauxhall has decided to keep up with the Joneses by unveiling its next-generation of engines that are likely to be placed in the Astra and Insignia. The new 1.6-litre turbo ECOTEC petrol engine with direct injection will offer 200hp – which represents a 20hp boost over the outgoing engine. Along with the power boost, Vauxhall claims the engine has actually cut emissions by 13 per cent.

"The quality, reliability and driveability of our cars is improving at an unprecedented rate," said Duncan Aldred, Chairman and Managing Director of Vauxhall Motors. "Replacing core engine ranges with high-output, high efficiency units will enhance our cars' appeal still further and reinforce our commitment to producing first-class products."

There are also rumours of a small, three-cylinder engine for the Adam city car, along with updated diesel engines.

Exciting times for Vauxhall and its drivers, indeed.
