The LA Motor Show is on the horizon and promises to play host to a number of exciting exhibits.

This year’s LA Motor Show is set to take place in the US starting on the 17th of November, with major manufacturers from North America, Europe and Asia alike gathering to show off their latest creations. Here are just some of the cars that are like to set pulses racing when the doors open in less than two weeks.

Range Rover Evoque Convertible

The Range Rover Evoque has proven itself to be a serious success for JLR over the past couple of years, so it is no surprise to see the range expanding. Although the fact that a soft top model is on the way may raise a few eyebrows. Leaked images of the Evoque Convertible suggest that the body style of the standard SUV adapts rather well to the addition of a fold-away roof. And the sheer size of this vehicle may make it one of the more practical cabriolets on the market, especially in terms of the number of passengers that can comfortably fit on-board.

Mercedes-Benz GLS

The GLS is a fresh range from Mercedes, building on the reputation of the GL-Class as it attempts to take on the big boys with another luxury SUV. While these off-road vehicles can be criticised as a result of their poor fuel economy, Mercedes is thought to be addressing this by building a version of the new GLS with a hybrid powertrain, giving it batteries and electric motors to make urban driving a more environmentally conscious affair.

Infiniti QX30

The sporty QX30 may be based upon the same platform as the GLA from Mercedes-Benz and is being geared up for a glamorous LA debut, but Infiniti is actually going to build this model at its Sunderland factory. So for UK buyers it will feel like a home-grown success. Sharing the same styling and features as the basic Q30, but with rather more tech and power on-board, this luxury hatchback is an intriguing alternative to the A-Class.

Fiat 124 Spider

Many fans of affordable sports cabriolets will fondly remember previous Fiat models including the Barchetta. And now the Italian firm is reviving its efforts in this segment of the market with the 124 Spider. Built on a platform that it will share with the Mazda MX-5, it promises to offer not only a longer and more imposing body design than its Japanese counterpart, but also a powerful selection of turbocharged power plants to liven up the driving experience.

Mazda CX-9

Mazda is just one of the many companies bringing a new compact SUV to the table at this year’s LA Motor Show. The new CX-9 will offer seven seats on the inside to help it take on rivals from Kia and Skoda. Previous generations of the CX-9 have been sold in the US but there is hope that this new model will make it to the UK market, especially now that the popularity of SUVs has become so strong amongst British buyers.

Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport

Thus far, the sportiest car on the list of models expected to appear at LA is this hard core iteration of one of Porsche’s track-tuned beasts. There is little doubt that the Cayman's racing credentials will be impeccable, introducing a gearbox with twin clutches to this Porsche range for the first time. More information about the line-up of the LA Motor Show 2015 will come out over the coming weeks to keep fans on tenterhooks. And the good news is that it is not just concept cars, but production models, that are set to make an appearance.
