The calendar is full of exciting events for UK motor fans, so check out our round up of the best shows for this summer.

30th March - 1st April - Santa Pod Festival of Power

This annual celebration of European-wide drag racing used to be known as the Easter Thunderball. It's an entertaining and very noisy family event.

12th May - Gaydon Spring Classic and Cream Tea Run

This quaint festival is held at the Heritage Motor Centre, a must-see destination for auto fans. This particular event is open to any vehicle over 20 years old and involves a meander through stunning countryside followed by a luscious cream tea.

26th-27th May - Motorsport at the Palace

That's Crystal, not Buckingham, so don't expect to run into Her Majesty. This is the site of an annual sprint competition organised by the Sevenoaks and District Motor Club and is currently the closest thing London can boast to a Grand Prix.

14th-16th June - Cholmondeley Pageant of Power

Ostensibly a northern version of Goodwood, but with added powerboat racing, helicopter presentations and British military displays.

16th June - Beaulieu Custom and Hot Rod Festival

Father's Day at Beaulieu's National Motor Museum makes for a colourful day out, with displays of hundreds of custom cars and bikes. There's also entertainment, live music and an awards ceremony.

28th-30th June - Formula One British Grand Prix

Silverstone Britain's biggest motoring event, which hopefully won't be a wash out thanks to the rain, as per last year's race.

4th-7th July - Goodwood Moving Motor Show and Festival of Speed

The internationally famous Goodwood Festival of Speed is now preceded by the Moving Motor Show, an exhibition of the newest production vehicles for buyers and enthusiasts and including a test drive through the Goodwood estate in some cases. This year's Goodwood Revival will be held on 13th-15th September.

26th-28th July - Silverstone Classic

A classic car version of Formula One, featuring over 1,000 exotic race vehicles and 7,000 classic cars in total. There's fun for all the family, too, with music, shopping, aerobatic displays, a period fun fair and numerous other events.

September 2013 - Chelsea Autolegends

This cool, media-friendly festival is held at The Royal Hospital and boasts the support of motoring legends such as Sir Stirling Moss. There are various themed events and plenty of famous faces from the worlds of cars, food and fashion.

This was a quick round-up of some of the summer's main events, but don't forget venues like Beaulieu's National Motor Museum and the Gaydon Heritage Motor Centre offer year round entertainment for motor fans.
