Britain has no shortage of excellent motor museums for entertainment this Easter break and all of these are worth a visit.

Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford, Somerset

An unexpected gem off the A303 in the Somerset countryside, there's plenty of history on display here. This is the biggest motor museum in Britain with over 400 cars and motorbikes on display. Opened by John Haynes, of Haynes Workshop Manual fame, in 1985, it holds auto exhibits going back to the 1800s. Try the American Collection for muscle cars, the Vroom Room for your classic supercar such as the Lamborghini Countach, the MG and Morris Garage for classics and a hall of red racers in the Red Room, including examples piloted by Sir Stirling Moss and Michael Schumacher. Beaulieu National Motor Museum, Brockenhurst, Hampshire

Possibly the best known of all the British Motoring Museums, this is a classic family fun venue. There are vehicles famous for their roles in films, rally cars, F1 racers and record breakers galore. Beaulieu National Motor Museum

Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, Warwickshire

There are 300 British cars at the Heritage Centre, which celebrates its 21st anniversary this year. British made is the theme here and 2014 offers a special Aston Martin centenary exhibition. £1.3 million of renovations were completed a few years ago. Heritage Motor Centre

On Your Marques Model Car Collection, Alford, Lincolnshire

The only full size cars here are to be found in the car park, but there's a fantastic selection of models for adults and kids alike, plus a Scalextrix circuit! Open weekends only over the summer so contact first to avoid disappointment. On Your Marques Model Car Collection

Brooklands Museum, Weybridge, Surrey

This venue is the site of the first motor racing circuit built for purpose in the world and the home of motorsport in the UK. Apart from cars, exhibits include various feats of engineering and aviation history, plus regular specialist event days. Brooklands Museum

Coventry Transport Museum, Coventry, West Midlands

The Thrust SCC land speed record holder can be seen here, while visitors can get a feel for breaking the speed of sound in a simulator. Coventry also lays claim to a British transport collection including bikes and commercial vehicles along with cars. Coventry Transport Museum

Lakeland Motor Museum, Windermere, Cumbria

Worth a visit for rolling Lake District countryside as much as the iconic vehicles on display, Lakeland is the place to see Jaguars, Aston Martins and even DeLoreans from the past century. Lakeland Motor Museum
