Petrolheads' favourite film franchise is back, with a seventh instalment of the Fast and Furious series. This edition is attracting extra attention, thanks to the untimely death of series star, Paul Walker, during filming. In a tragic instance of life imitating art, the actor was killed when the Porsche Carrera GT in which he was travelling crashed in California.

Rather than cancelling the film, its makers decided to go on and make number seven bigger and more outrageous than ever, in a tribute to Walker. At two hours and 17 minutes, it's also the longest entry of the franchise. Fans of the series have been wondering how its producers would get around his absence but rumour suggests body doubles and CGI have stood in where necessary, although the release date was delayed by a year. The rest of the films' usual team returns - Vin Diesel, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson,' Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Ludacris but nonetheless, the popular actor is sadly missed.

Fast and Furious 7 focuses on a revenge plot and features some major new star power in the form of Jason Statham and Kurt Russell, in a role reportedly turned down by Denzel Washington. This time, the F&F team goes seriously international and computer terrorism is on the menu, but somehow they've also managed to shoehorn in the usual spectacular collection of cars, which have always been as integral to the films as their human stars.

Fiat Chrysler models do feature heavily, as the firm supplied almost 30 vehicles for filming, but don't worry, it's not full of Fiat Pandas and there are plenty of Dodges present, as is the Fast and Furious tradition. Expect 2015 Dodge Chargers in Candy Red and Sublime Green and a Charger SRT Hellcat, plus a 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T in black, a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, a Dodge Viper GTS and a few vintage models, for good measure. These will also be seen in videos for songs included on the film's soundtrack album.

An armoured Jeep Wrangler has a part to play, too, but there's also more exotic fare to be enjoyed - the film's trailer has already shown a super exclusive Lykan Hypersport taking a breathtaking leap between two skyscrapers. Keep your eye out also for a Nissan Skyline, Subaru Impreza WRX STI, Audi R8, Mazda RX-7, Ferrari 458 Italia, Aston Martin DB9, a Plymouth Barracuda and a McLaren MP4-12C.

Fans will be pleased to hear that plans are underway for F&F 8 and even 9, all following the usual formula.
