Clarkson's Car CV

Love him or hate him, Jeremy Clarkson is Britain's best known motoring pundit. Whether or not you approve of his distinctive brand of laddish banter, as part of his job the man gets to drive pretty much any car he wants to, be it a Lada Riva or the most awesome supercars. That being the case, which are the cars that have received the Clarkson approval, the models on which he'll invest his own money to drive while off duty?

Ford Cortina 1600E

Ford excelled at sporty saloons in the Sixties and Seventies and Clarkson's first car was a classic 88hp model. While his taste has grown more expensive over the years, the Clarkson collection still holds a few surprises...

Alfa Romeo GTV6

The caustic Clarkson is an unlikely fan of Alfa Romeos, but his love affair with the Italian brand stems from his ownership of a GTV6 in the Eighties. While he admits the firm has its faults, they're also the ultimate drivers' cars from the Clarkson point of view.

Volvo 850 R

For years, the Clarkson family car, this high performance estate was given the nickname 'The Terminator' by Mrs Clarkson, no doubt the result of a rather brutal 250bhp five cylinder turbocharged engine, that saw it cover 0-60mph in 7.8 seconds. The Volvo XC90 SUV has also been a popular model for the Clarkson gang due to its comfort and practicality.

Ford Escort RS Cosworth

Once named one of his favourite cars of all time, Clarkson's metallic green 1993 model allegedly once received a mind blowing £25,000 insurance quote.

Range Rover TDV8 Vogue

Another of his 'best cars in the world,' Clarkson was apparently happy to lay down his own cash for one of these.

Ferrari F355 GTS

A rather predictable choice, this red Ferrari in open top Spider version proved to be something of a mistake by Clarkson, as people apparently tended to spit into it... However, this wasn't enough to put the presenter completely off open top supercars, as he later invested in a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and proclaimed it 'properly brilliant.'

Ford GT

Having spent 35 years desiring one of these, a disappointed Clarkson ended up sending it back to Ford and demanding a refund, thanks to the constant disturbance from a faulty alarm system. Ford then tried to mollify the disgruntled presenter by loaning him an Aston Martin DB9...

And for Mrs Clarkson...

There are clearly some perks to being married to the Top Gear presenter, as Mrs Clarkson's cars have included a Mitsubishi Evo X, an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, a Caterham R400 and a Lotus Elise 111S.
