Caterham Adds More Power to Supersport

By raccars Published

Caterham is on a bit of a roll, so it seems obvious that it would upgrade its Supersport model with the new Supersport R model – which now boasts a 2.0-litre engine as opposed to a 1.6-litre. The engine is actually from the incredibly powerful Superlight R400, so expect a serious improvement with power delivery and acceleration.

You get a limited slip diff, a 0-62mph time of 4.8 seconds, 180bhp, and a lovely set of Avon CR500s to compliment the sportier suspension set-up. Unfortunately, there is still no sign of ABS or airbags, but this is a Caterham; it’s supposed to be raw and exciting!

Prices for the ‘DIY’ Supersport R start at £24,995, but if you want Caterham to build it for you, you’ll need £27,995 – so, good value whichever way you prefer.
