The Festival of Speed was on at the weekend at Goodwood with, among other exciting exhibits, the chance to get a good look at some of the auto industry's hottest new models for the time.

Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing

The French company is taking the opportunity to preview its latest concept car at this year's festival. Textured, matte grey paintwork with red detailing and 19 inch alloys go with a modern cabin, furnished with Alcantara leather trim and the continuation of the red elements. The standard DS3 Cabrio's sliding roof is in place, while performance is courtesy of a 204hp 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine and 0-62mph takes 6.5 seconds.

The concept will be seen again at September's Frankfurt Motor Show, when industry watchers expect Citroen to announce production status for this addition to the massively popular DS3 range. Interested parties will probably have to pay about £24,000 to get their hands on one of these funky little hot hatches.

Rolls-Royce Wraith

At the other end of the scale comes what RR is calling 'the ultimate gentlemen's gran turismo'. The Festival of Speed was the ideal introduction opportunity for the new Wraith coupe, with a 6.6 litre V12 engine returning 633bhp for a 0-60mph time of 4.4 seconds. This beefed up version of the limo has sportier suspension and steering to handle all that power, which was showcased in the famous Goodwood Hill Climb, in addition to a more restrained appearance in the supercar paddock. A new Wraith will set you back about £250,000.

Peugeot RCZ R

The most potent road going Peugeot yet is made its debut this weekend prior to reaching the market early next year. At around £30,000, you get a lot of performance for the money with the French brand's new flagship model. Its 273bhp comes from a turbocharged 1.6 litre THP unit for a sub-6.0 second 0-62mph sprint and a 155mph electronically limited top speed. Peugeot has applied Formula One technology in the development of the RCZ R, which comes with a sports luxe cabin and a choice of four paintwork colourways plus myriad personalisation options.

Lotus Elise S Club Racer

The latest addition to the Elise range is 20kg lighter than the previous Club Racer. £35,000 will buy you a 0-60mph time of 4.2 seconds and a 145mph top speed, thanks to a supercharged 1.8 litre four cylinder engine. Convenience features have been pared down to minimise weight, so forget about air conditioning, central locking and a stereo. The Elise S Club Racer is aimed mainly at track day buyers and comes with a choice of suitably sporty options.
