This summer sees the third edition of CarFest, an automotive festival created by BBC Radio 2 DJ, Chris Evans, to provide good, clean family fun by combining his passions for cars, music and food. What's more, profits from the event are given to the BBC's Children in Need charity.

CarFest is split into two events geographically - CarFest North is held at Cheshire's Oulton Park on 1-3 August, followed by CarFest South on the bank holiday weekend of 22-24 August, at Laverstoke Park Farm, Basingstoke. The previous two years' events have been a huge success, attracting over 200,000 visitors and raising more than £2 million for BBC Children in Need.

With the theme of the number 'seven,' inspired by the 'Magnificent Seven' collection of Ferraris owned by Evans, there are some funky new categories for this year's Track Sprint, such as the Hot Rod Seven, Rock Star Seven and Movie Car Seven, along with the usual Rally and F1 Sevens. Maserati will be celebrating its centenary with an Anniversary Seven, featuring a 250F owned by Nick Mason, while Ford will be showing off its new Mustang in the Muscle Car Seven.

Laverstoke Park Farm is the ideal venue to host the event, being owned by Jody Scheckter, a former F1 World Champion. Scheckter joins in with the event with some gusto, last year running the gauntlet in the Ferrari that won him his world title and some special Tyrrell F1 six wheelers. This year will see him back behind the wheel for more.

Apart from the automotive events, there will be stunts and displays to entertain the crowds in the Showground. There's plenty for children too, with performers and entertainers specifically to please a junior crowd in the Outdoor Play Area. The foodie part of the show can be found in the Britain's Best Pavilion, showcasing produce from small, independent food and drinks makers in the UK. Television's Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry will once again be judging the Cakes vs Pies competition.

Speed freaks may drag their eyes away from the cars for a few minutes to enjoy an air display by the RAF Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

To further the Goodwood meets Glastonbury atmosphere, the days will be rounded off by musical acts including Chas & Dave, Eliza Doolittle, Jamie Cullum, Jools Holland, Simple Minds, Texas, The Feeling and 10CC.

This is a popular event, so there are only a few tickets left for those interested.
