Automotive days out to look forward to in 2016

The automotive calendar for 2016 is full of entertaining weekend events and days out, spread throughout the year. Plan your itinerary now!

Performance Car Show Held at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre on 14-17 January, this is a product-focused event showcasing high performance vehicles. Stands are taken by leading tuning firms and owners' clubs. Visitors can take part in various driving experiences. This year's theme is 'Hot Hatch Nirvana'.

London Classic Car Show From 18-21 February the ExCeL London venue will be transformed into a haven for classic car lovers, with something to enjoy for owners, collectors, enthusiasts and experts. A special 'Six Nations' exhibition will celebrate the greatest car making countries in the world, while 25 clubs will be exhibiting the finest vintage metal at car club square. The indoor runway will show some classics in action while there will be a number of VIPs and guest speakers from the world of classic motoring on hand at the speakers' corner open forum.

Stratford Festival of Motoring Held in the centre of Stratford Upon Avon on 1-2 May, this event sees about 500 classic cars and high performance models congregate in the sunshine, plus special children's events for a fantastic family day out.

London Motor Show This new event brings international motor show prestige to the capital on 5-8 May in Battersea Park. There will be exhibits by all the major brands including new models and fabulous concepts and including driving experiences. Family entertainment will include a giant remote control race circuit, video game, safety demos and the chance to meet a number of motorsport VIPs.

Coventry MotoFest On 3-5 June Coventry celebrates all things automotive. Visit Eaton House to see cars and motorbikes, buses and lorries, armoured cars, stock cars, taxis and plenty of other displays involving transport and engines. The free event includes moving and static exhibitions, live music and lots of other family-friendly entertainment.

Goodwood Festival of Speed Always one of the most popular automotive events of the year, the Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place on 23-26 June 2016, featuring the usual hill climb madness, the moving motor show, the supercar paddock and the traditional parade of motorsports personalities. The theme for the event this time is 'Full Throttle - the Endless Pursuit of Speed', celebrating motor racing endeavours past and present.

VW Festival There's plenty to entertain VW fans and motoring enthusiasts in general on the weekend of 12-14 August. The British summer will be in full swing as the country's VW nuts head to Harewood House in Leeds to show off their classic and modern VWs, with club stands, a trade fair and the 'Show and Shine' competition. Enjoy live music, graffiti demonstrations, a circus academy, Scalextric racing, F1 simulator, a Beetle raffle and lots of special entertainment for younger visitors. This year features a fancy dress theme of 'The Circus' for a fun family day out.

Days out at Beaulieu: Supercar Showdown Among the many automotive events taking place at Beaulieu throughout the year, the sixth edition of the Supercar Showdown must be one of the most exciting, seeing the most spectacular cars in the world congregate at the Beaulieu Estate in the New Forest, Hampshire. The cars can be seen in action and visitors can also enjoy entry to the Beaulieu National Motor Museum, the World of Top Gear exhibit and Beaulieu Abbey included in their ticket.

Goodwood Revival The weekend of 9-11 September at Goodwood is dedicated to historic motoring, featuring classic racers competing on the legendary circuit. There will be plenty of vintage metal on display and guests tend to get into the spirit of the event by attending in period clothing.
