This year's Classic Motor Show is approaching! It's due to be held at Birmingham's NEC on the weekend of 14-16th November. A must for classic car fans, the event features vintage British classics, retro American muscle, exotic European metal and historic motorsport examples.

This year, there will be a special exhibit by Porsche GB to celebrate 40 years of turbocharged Porsches. Sixteen Turbos and and Targas will demonstrate the restoration skills of Porsche centres all round the UK, entering the second edition of the Classic Restoration Competition. Visitors will be able to appreciate, in the flesh, a rare 924 Carrera GT, a 944 Turbo Cabriolet and a 930 Turbo Martini Edition, among others. The Porsche centre that wins the competition will be rewarded with a trip to Camp4, Porsche's legendary Finnish winter driving school.

Classic car clubs will be topping off their summer season with appearances at the show, with the Alfa Romeo Owners Club UK, the Bugatti Owners Club, the Capri Mk1 Owners Club, the MG Owners Club and the Marcos Owners Club only some of the organisations with stands at the event. Clubs are a great way to enter the classic car community, with fantastically experienced and friendly members and excellent social calendars.

There will be hundreds of other stands, from trade experts, autojumble and specialist services, while serious buyers will be interested in the two day auction, featuring the sale of cars along with other assorted automobilia. The sale is run by Silverstone Auctions, experts in the field of classic cars. While the sale focuses on classic and vintage fare, there will be some interesting modern lots included.

The Classic Motor Show's most popular event every year is the restoration theatre, which gives visitors the chance to learn from demonstrations by experts from Leeds City College, which runs specialist engineering courses.

If you want to do more than just look, 'Dream Rides' will be available, run by The Sporting Bears Motoring Club, a children's charity run by classic car enthusiasts. Experiences include ten mile passenger rides in a choice of 80-100 cars, such as a chauffeur driven Bentley, a classic VW camper van or a spin in an exotic supercar, for example. Last year, 'Dream Rides' raised £41,148 for Sporting Bears.

There will also be a classic bikes section and a live stage hosted by Mike Brewer and Edd China, from the Discovery Channel's Wheeler Dealers TV programme, showcasing classic car parades, gameshows, meet the experts and a full range of motoring entertainment.

Tickets are available online, starting at £9.50 for children.
