New Toyota Yaris

Coming in a range of three or five doors, and a selection of frugal engines, the Yaris is a practical hatchback with a decent amount of spec.

The biggest changes to the new Yaris are the adventurous headlight design and a grille that forms a cool-looking X-shaped feature at the front of the car, cutting through the badge and down into the bumpers; Sport models also feature high-intensity LED lights. On the inside, you’ll find a cabin that has plenty of space for passengers, with ample legroom all around, whilst the driver’s seat is height-adjustable, allowing you to get the perfect amount of visibility. The touchscreen infotainment screen replaces some of the buttons previously present on the dashboard too, whilst the boot has grown also, now offering 286 litres of space.

On the road, the Yaris has good grip and provides a composed ride. This car is fairly easy to drive, thanks to the light transmission and responsive steering – turning and manoeuvring is positive, especially in urban settings. The automatic gearbox provides a great advantage around town; easy, silent shifts possible are possible with careful control of the throttle. Out of the selection of engines, the 1.33 petrol is one of the most flexible, finding it easy to transition between cruising and moving at a decent pace, whilst the 1.5 litre hybrid has reasonable speed. The entry-level trim, Active, carries electric windows and a stereo. Higher trim levels fill out the equipment list quite a bit, with the touchscreen, reversing camera, air conditioning and plenty more for your money.

Seven airbags, tyre pressure monitoring and stability control are all included safety measures.

Perfect for Young Professionals and Small Families The Toyota Yaris holds its worth very well, due in part to its hugely efficient engines. The hybrid in particular is very impressive, and is one of the cheapest hybrids currently on offer.
