New Ford Kuga

The Kuga is great at handling any off-road situations that come your way, with its all-wheel-drive, powerful engines and innovative terrain-based technology. The boot is also surprisingly big.

Following its update in 2013, the Kuga was made larger than before, although the majority of its design has been kept the same. That means a face that is built upon the looks of the Ford Focus, albeit with a less accentuated grille, but keeping the same swept-back headlights. The Kuga offers a generous amount of head and legroom, as well as a spacious boot that holds 1928 litres with the rear seats folded. The cabin itself is also well-built, and comprised of quality materials.

Much like the update to the Ford Ecosport, the Kuga has been optimised for comfort, with a suspension that deals with speed bumps and road perfections easily, especially at high speeds. The steering in the Ford Kuga (now fully electric) is also nicely weighted, and works well with the refined ride to make journeys effortless and relaxing – although the intuitive off-loading system makes the Kuga grip relentlessly in tougher conditions when needed. There are four engines to choose from – 2 diesel and 2 petrol, with four-wheel drive standard on the strongest example of each. The higher-powered diesel in particular (177bhp) is a smooth and eager engine, delivering a great balance of performance and efficiency. The Ford Kuga is decently specced in even its most basic guise, with sports seats, daytime running lights and cruise control included as standard. The Titanium, Titanium X and Titanium X Sport trims add top-class features to the SUV – dual-zone climate control and the Ford SYNC are included among them. The X also gets adaptive headlights, leather upholstery and a panoramic roof, whilst the X Sport is privy to an extensive bodykit, tinted windows, sat-nav, DAB radio and Active Park Assist.

All trims get a full range of airbags, ABS, ESP and active lane assist.

Perfect for Families and Professionals Practical and powerful, the Ford Kuga makes light work of both roads and terrain with its four-wheel drive and buoyant suspension. Journeys are refined, despite the Kuga’s off-road strengths, and the abundance of space makes it more than useful for families and driving enthusiasts looking for a mid-sized SUV.
