New BMW M3

As a performance saloon, the M3 has been leading the pack due to refined handling and a brilliant range of engines. Its spacious build and upgraded power has also helped it to maintain a foothold in the market for powerful saloons.

As the premium model in the 3 Series range, the M3 is styled with a muscular bodykit, 19-inch alloys, quad exhaust pipes and a carbon fibre roof, giving it a menacing look on the road - and on the drive. The interior is also specced to match, with a sports steering wheel, leather upholstery, cosy seats and M-class insignia dotted around the cabin. Optional extras are available of course, with Carbon Fibre trim coming at a premium. Seat and steering adjustment is very versatile, with multiple configurations for maximum comfort, whilst the saloon bodyshape of the M3 also means there is plenty of space for both passengers and luggage, especially with a 480-litre boot.

The M3 has always been a strong performer, and this new edition is no different. The dual-clutch gearbox perfected by BMW makes transmission changes quickly and smoothly, allowing the M3 to shoot from stationary to 62mph in just 4.3 seconds. Despite the engine downgrade (from a V8 to a turbocharged V6), the M3 retains all of its muscle, and actually gains some extra torque due to the new setup. An abundance of grip, combined with the M Drive Manager system allows you to tweak each aspect of your drive, from damping to throttle response. Being the top 3 Series model, the M3 offers plenty of equipment as standard. When buying an M3 you can expect sat-nav, heated seats, xenon headlights, front & rear parking sensors, cruise control, Bluetooth and leather upholstery.

The M3 includes a variety of safety measures, with airbags, electronic stability control and the intuitive eCall system, which assesses a variety of factors after a crash and notifies the emergency services. Despite its asking price, it’s likely to hold a lot of is value down the line, and benefits from improved efficiency figures, with the automatic version able to go just under 35 miles on a single gallon.

Perfect for Driving Enthusiasts and Collectors The BMW M3 has somewhat of a cult following, given its tremendous performance and practical layout. Driving purists looking for a high performance vehicle that has plenty of use beyond the racetrack won’t be disappointed.
