The next of the new Dacia line-up in the UK is the second generation Sandero. Based on the outgoing Clio, the Romanian rival to the Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta will be priced significantly less than the competition.
Practicality is a huge advantage for the little Sandero, with a space of 320-litres in the boot, and 1,200-litres with the seats folded flat. The figures imply a larger than average amount of space, coupled with 60/40 split rear seats and five doors.
Engines rumoured to be available are a regular four-cylinder unit, the new generation 0.9-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol unit from the next generation Clio, and the established 1.5 dci unit.
Equipment will be sparse, with a stereo and air conditioning not likely to be standard on most trim levels. Like the Duster, these will be available on the higher spec models with a no haggle policy from the dealers.
Prices are yet to be announced, but expect the entry level Sandero to cost less than £7,000, with high end models topping the £10,000 mark.
More details will be available at the Paris Motor Show later this month, but expect this new Sandero to silence the Top gear crew's joking.
