TVR enthusiasts and sports car fans around the world have been waiting with baited breath for a few years now, in hope that they would see a successful return of TVR. Unfortunately, according to a report in Autocar, there will be no second coming – it’s all, seemingly, over.
Russian owner Nikolai Smolensky, who bought the company for £15 million in 2004, has ruled out returning to car manufacturing due to reasons which include the rather important factor of cost. According to the Russian, each TVR would have to cost £100,000 to provide customers with the level of spec and build quality they expect in 2012.
So that’s it; it’s been good. Thanks for the memories, TVR. We’ll see miss.
